Our Current Affairs speaker for January is Major Steve Gresley, USAF Ret.

The title of his program is the “The Buffalo Hunters in Vietnam” He will talk about USAF reconnaissance drones - 1 of the 3 U.S. national reconnaissance assets used in Vietnam. The drones were consistently relied upon for low level reconnaissance photographic missions.

Steve entered the USAF in 1962 at McCoy AFB, Florida as a Personnel Officer Two years later he attended Undergraduate Navigator training and then Electronic Warfare Officer school. In 1966 he was assigned as a B-52H EWO at Wurtsmith AFB, MI. Later he transferred to the 350th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ as a DC-130 Drone Launch Control Officer and Airborne Remote-Control Officer. He deployed to Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam in December 1969. He flew 254 combat missions over N. Vietnam thru 1973 with 34 combat missions from 1971-72 in Korea.

From 1998-2001 he lived onboard and sailed his 45 ft. sloop in the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Trinidad. He retired in 2001.
