Summary

MOAACC is conducting a Virtual TMBC & Current Affairs Forum. The Thursday Morning Breakfast Club is MOAACC's weekly meeting to exchange facts and fun. Due to the COVID 19 challenges/constraints, we had to cancel in-person TMBCs until further notice. This presentation will follow an abbreviated (30-minute) Virtual TMBC.

However, we will be conducting this TMBC via the Zoom Teleconferencing application. This ensures compliance with CDC guidelines and still enables us to conduct MOAACC business. Please RSVP through this notice or send an email to moaacapecanaveral@gmail.com indicating you will attend virtually. You will be able to attend virtually through your computer, through a Zoom phone application or you can dial in using your home or cell phone. Once RSVPs are received, you will receive a confirmation email with all the information and access instructions. Thank you for your support as MOAACC GOES VIRTUAL!

Description

Marsha Abeln, Chief Financial Officer

A lifelong resident of Brevard County, Ms. Abeln has spent her career in the business world side of healthcare.  She began at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge (now Steward), rising to Assistant Controller before moving on to various healthcare organizations in Central Florida.  She served as Controller at Health Central in Ocoee (governmental) and United Medical Corporation (S-Corp) in Windermere before joining Kindred (for profit) long-term acute care hospital in Melbourne.  She then traveled south on to Family Private Care, a nurse registry before joining Hospice of St. Francis.

“I became familiar with Hospice of St. Francis now St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care at church through a friend who was a prior employee,” Ms. Abeln said, “but my passion for working with hospice comes from a personal experience in my life.”  Ms. Abeln learned the importance of hospice when her mother had needed extra care at the end of her life. “I was a primary family member who oversaw everything.  That put me in tune with the whole hospice process and their true mission.  I think until you’re affected by it personally you don’t realize the full scope of what hospice truly provides.  So when the opportunity arose to work with hospice and it was in Titusville, it made it even more appealing to work for St. Francis. “

Ms. Abeln has spent a large part of her life living in Rockledge with her husband and two sons and her local roots run deep.  “I grew up in Cocoa, went to school at Titusville High School, attend church in Titusville and have family in Titusville so Titusville is near and dear to my heart.  Titusville is still a city where you can walk into a store and see somebody you know.  It hasn’t lost that intimate small-town vibe even though it is growing.”  Her two sons are enrolled at The Florida State University, her oldest is completing rotations in Med School and her youngest is pre-med preparing to sit for the MCAT soon.

She says the management team at St. Francis Reflections has made her feel at home.  “I get to work with a great group of professionals that genuinely care and believe in the mission of St. Francis Reflections.  It’s not just a job but a true passion and I am lucky to work for such a wonderful organization.”
