Description

September “Bring Your Own Coffee & Donuts to Learn” Program --

“The Battle of Iwo Jima”

Thursday, 17 September 2020

On the 19th of February 1945, 70,000 U.S. Marines conducted an amphibious assault on a remote island in the Pacific, located 750 miles off the coast of Japan.  There they met some 21,000 Japanese, defending three airfields on the island in some of the bloodiest fighting of World War II.  Over the next month, 7,000 Marines and nearly all of the Japanese defenders were killed in the fighting.  Our topic for September’s “Bring Your Own Coffee and Donuts to Learn” program series is the Battle of Iwo Jima.  Our speaker is Capt. Bill Mucker, USMC-Former.

Bill is a member of our Speakers Bureau and Veterans Back to Class program.   Born in St. Louis, he has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Upon graduation, he completed the USMC Officer Candidate Course in Quantico, Virginia and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. He spent four and one-half years on active duty and then eleven years as a Ready Reservist.  Bill founded Muckler Typographic Corporation in St. Louis.  He also worked as a Work Process Management Professional for 40 years. He later became the owner of his own management and leadership, and work process implementation consultancy. Bill currently serves as the Secretary of the Chapter, and is also active at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, where he serves as Secretary.

Join us virtually using Zoom VTC as we welcome Bill as our September speaker on Thursday, 17 September at 0930, immediately following an abbreviated TMBC.   If you haven’t registered for a previous virtual TMBC, “click” on the events calendar link on our website to register to receive the joining instructions for the event.  Don’t miss this special MOAACC event!
