Rolling Thunder Florida, Chapter 1 met at the VMC today and I am delighted to provide an update on the POW/MIA Flag Raising Program in Brevard as of 01 March. As a member of both organizations this report is special for me to offer.

First of all, hope many MOAACC members will attend the special Bayside HS Flag Raising tomorrow, 01 March at 1020. Also, RTFL -1 Secretary Mike Schulze will be featured on a Space Coast Daily Friday Night Locker Room Live Podcast on 01 March at 1415 hours to discuss the flag raising and other RTFL-1 programs. I will send the link along to MOPAACC when received.

Finally, know we all look forward to JJ Justice’s MOAACC March Luncheon talk at the Tides on 16 March at 1130. JJ will be able to give another update at about the half way point by then.

Unofficially, as March begins, here is where the Flag Raising program stands:

Ceremonies:

• Began at BPS Hqs Bldg in Viera 15 Dec 2020
• Media and Space Coast Daily Podcast coverage is increasing
• The Bayside HS 1020 Ceremony 01 March is expected to boost publicity with Sheriff Ivey and many officials also expected to attend
• 83 ceremonies are required to complete all public schools in Brevard County
• Over 20 have been Completed so far (about one Quarter)
• EFSC was added as another ceremony target today!!
• RTFL has Five Teams working different geographic areas encouraging other vet orgs to attend and support the massive effort

Fund Raising:

• 84 Flags cost a total of $2268
• MOAACC/Good Deeds Contributed $500 in January
• VFW Posts around Brevard have contributed over $1000
• Rolling Thunder and RTFL-1 Members $400
• American Legion 344 - $200

The Goal is close at hand!! It appears a second request to MOAACC/GDF will not be needed— Thanks for standby, Scott and Team
