MAY 2025

14 May — DAV Chapter 32 Veterans Appreciation Day 1700 - 2000 at the Eau Gallie Civic Center , 1551 Highland Ave, Melbourne. Op[en to the public. RSVP Required to mail@fldav32.org. Free food and drinks from 17-1800 hours followed by special events and Guest Speaker, Palm Bay Mayor and USMC Vet Rob Medina. Door prizes, 50/50 raffle and lots of camaraderie among veterans and their families.

15 May — First Annual Military Enlistment Ceremony of the Space Coast to recognize and honor those high school seniors or recent graduates from area counties who have enlisted in all six branches of our military services. Viera HS Football Stadium 1800-2000. Free Admission as we witness the initial swearing in of from 2-300 young adults who have chosen to begin their post high school years serving our country. Please arrive by 1730. All family members, friends, veterans and the public are welcome to share in this special moment where focused young people have chosen Service before Self. Sponsored by Brevard Public Schools and the veteran community for students of all categories — Public, Private, Charter, Virtual and Home Schooling. 19-27 May — Gold Star Mother and Artist Jeanne Weaver display of 21 paintings - Losing Todd: A Mother’s Journey. 1LT Todd Weaver, USA was killed in combat in Afghanistan 09 Sep 2010. Porcher House in Cocoa Village 0900-1500 daily. More details in March.

20 May — Their Voice of Hope and Yoga with Dena — Yoga for women veterans and first responders. Contact dorothy@theirvoiceofhope.com for more information and registration. No cost to participate.

26 May — Brevard Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony VMC Plaza 0930 -1030. Generations of Service and Sacrifice for America featuring Vietnam and GWOT guest speakers with music and remembrance the focus. Contact Donn Weaver 757-871-6576.

26 May — Memorial Day Ceremony at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims 1000-1100. RADM James Hart, USN, Ret and President of Space Coast Honor Flight will the the Keynote Speaker with Norm Moody, noted veteran and military journalist as Emcee. Bring Lawn chairs and umbrellas. 26 May — Parade and Memorial Day Ceremony Cocoa Village and Riverfront Park 1500 Parade and 1700 Ceremony. Look for more details of the program in April.

27 May — VMC Library Discussion Series “Salute to the First American Military Service: 250 Years of the US Army”. 1800-1930 hours in the VMC Library. Presented by Army veteran Donn Weaver,.. An inside look at the history and progression of our largest service branch. Fifty years ago Weaver taught Basic Training troops about our 200 year old Army and has managed to keep current. The actual birthday is in June, but this is your chance to get a jump on the crowds and help us cut and eat a special US Army - 250 Cake.

JUNE

5 Jun — OrlandoVA Medical Center 10-Year Anniversary Celebration 1000-1100. Lake Nona Amphitheater . VA Leadership remarks; historical review; learning about services; Golf Cart shuttle. JULY

4 Jul. Annual BCSO Merritt Island Independence Day Parade 1000 start at Merritt Island HS with finish at Edgewood HS or on to BVMC. Details in early June.

4 Jul — Cocoa Beach Independence Day Parade - Through the Decades1000-1130 . Details and register in early June.

15 Jul — Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Foundation third Annual Christmas in July Fundraiser 1700-1900 at Rising Tide Tap and Table , 523 Glen Cheek Dr Port Canaveral. Event is a raffle drawing party with each ticket at $100 which admits two people for plenty of food, drinks, live auction . Great raffle prize. AUGUST

3 Aug Annual Military Order of Purpose Heart Honor Ceremony 1400 at VMC Gray Hall. Program details in June. Nine Purple Heart Recipients from Vietnam to Afghanistan will be recognized.

SEPTEMBER:

11 Sep — 09/11 Remembrance Ceremony BVMC Plaza and Gray Hall 1630 - 1900. Sponsored by Club 1013, MOAACC GDF and BVMC. Program details in July.

OCTOBER

3 Oct. Annual NVHS Dinner and Fundraiser to support homeless and at risk veterans and their families. Save the Date. The Difference a Decade Has Made. 1700 -2100 at Radisson Resort by the Port. Hosted by Brevard’s Constitutional Officers Semi to formal attire. Sign up starting in July.

NOVEMBER

8 Nov — Annual St Francis Reflections 5K Fundraiser at VMC Plaza and Park. 0800 - 1200 Includes veteran recognition and pinning. Details in August.

8 Nov — Veterans Day Recognition VyStar Dinner at Holiday Inn Viera Conference Center 1715-2030. Sponsored by MOAA Cape Canaveral Chapter Good Deeds Foundation. To honor and express our and community gratitude to individuals, associations and projects that make a significant impact on military veterans in Brevard County. 8 Nov — Annual VFW Post 10131 and City of Cape Canaveral Veterans Day Parade 1000-1130. Details in August. This year VFW Post in Cape Canaveral is hosting and managing the event.

11 Nov — VMC (and many other) Veterans Day Ceremony. 0930 - 1030 VMC Plaza/Park. Details in August with possible Parade of Colors that afternoon in the new Amphitheater/Park. May also serve as Ribbon Cutting for the Amphitheater and expanded VM Park.

DECEMBER:

06 Dec — Merritt Island Community and Gold Star Family Christmas Tree Grand Illumination at expands Veterans Memorial Center Park an Plaza Detail in September.

13 Dec — National Wreaths Across America Day at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery and five other Brevard Locations. Details in September.
