When he could not attend the annual MOAACC Awards Luncheon earlier in the week , MOAACC member LTC Tim Thomas, USA, Ret, received the prestigious 2022 MOAACC Outstanding Citizen in very special setting---the Viera JROTC Army Ball at IRCC on 21 January. The award was presented on Behalf of the MOAACC Board and Immediate Past President Ken Lowe, by former MOAACC President Donn Weaver.

In front of 150 JROTC cadets, their dates and family members , Weaver read the surprise citation for the award noting that Thomas had an amazing year creating the "JROTC to the Rescue" county- wide program to provide hurricane Ian and Nicole victims relief supplies in southwest Florida and northern Brevard County. He also helped earned $400,000 for charity while dancing for the Space Coast in June at the annual Brevard County Sheriff’s Office gala fundraiser. In addition to storm relief and fundraising , as the senior JROTC VHS Instructor and elected member of the Melbourne City Council, Thomas clearly earned the Award.
